Air Europa pet policy

Air Europa dog in cabin: the two weight limits

Air Europa is the only airline with two separate limits: the pet cannot exceed 8 kg and the total with the carrier cannot exceed 10 kg. In practice it allows you up to 2 kg of bag, where almost everyone else counts everything inside the same 8 kg.

At a glance

Two limits, not one

The difference sounds subtle but changes the maths: with Air France or KLM a 7.5 kg dog in a 1 kg carrier is already over the 8 kg limit. With Air Europa the same dog qualifies, because the animal is under 8 kg and the total under 10 kg.

It is a real advantage for a dog near the threshold, but it must be read together with the next constraint, which is the actual bottleneck.

The smallest carrier in the group

40 x 30 x 30 cm is the shortest length among European airlines: five centimetres less than TAP, six less than Air France and KLM, fifteen less than Lufthansa, SWISS and ITA.

In exchange it is the tallest: 30 cm against the near-standard 21-25 cm. A compact, tall dog fits comfortably; a dachshund or a long-bodied dog much less so.

The container must be an approved model or otherwise close fully without restricting breathing. Bags or containers without ventilation when closed are not accepted.

On board

The carrier goes under the seat in front and the animal cannot leave it at any point during the flight. Dogs must have all required vaccinations.

Before booking, check the specific conditions for your route: on some regional aircraft the limits can be lower than the network standard.

Before booking

The pet space is separate from your ticket and limited per flight. Check availability, fees and documents on the airline's website before paying: a purchased ticket does not guarantee your pet gets on board.
