Aegean dog in cabin: weight, carrier and fees

Aegean accepts one dog or cat per passenger in the cabin up to 8 kg including the carrier. The standard size is 55 x 40 x 23 cm, but it drops to 40 x 25 x 25 cm on ATR and DH8 aircraft.

The aircraft can completely change the bag

On Airbus aircraft the 55 x 40 x 23 cm allowance is roomy, but ATR and DH8 turboprops cut length to 40 cm. A carrier bought for an A320 can therefore fail on a regional segment operated by Olympic Air.

Aegean recommends a soft carrier, ventilated on four sides, leak-proof and large enough for a natural position. It stays closed under the seat throughout the flight. The passenger must sit by a window, away from the first row and emergency exits.

Clear cabin and hold fees

Cabin travel costs €35 on Greek domestic routes and €65 international, for an eligible direct or connecting journey. Pet spaces are limited and accepted by booking priority.

In the hold, pet and kennel between 8 and 25 kg cost €50 domestic direct or €110 international direct; above 25 kg, the fees become €90 and €180. Connections cost more and a layover over three hours can prevent hold acceptance.

Route, age and breed restrictions

For Dubai and Abu Dhabi dogs and cats travel as cargo only. To the UK, transport is cargo-only and limited to London Heathrow; from the UK, cabin and hold may be possible except at Gatwick.

The pet must be healthy, not sedated and at least 12 weeks old with a valid rabies vaccination. The vaccination follows microchipping and needs 21 days to become valid, making the practical minimum age 105 days. Aegean also publishes a list of breeds it will not accept.
